When I was at high school, there were the computer nerds who hung off every word that the popular kid was saying. They would look at them at awe and wonder how they could be less nerdy and be more popular. Walk into the Apple store and you will see how it is all different now. Revenge of the Nerds has actually happened. Under their Apple t-shirts you see glimpses of a funky singlet underneath or a cool necklace with some random Japanese symbol hanging from it. Or look down and their shoes will be high top or have different coloured laces in them. And the best part… the cool kids are hanging off every single word that they say.
So let me embrace the “nerdier” part of me. Nerd is the new Black apparently and I want to tell you about an app that I am absolutely loving at the moment. It’s called Timehop and its freaking fabulous!
It connects with your Iphoto, your computer, your Facebook, your Instagram, Dropbox, Twitter etc and then it tells you exactly what you were doing this time however many years ago. I made it sound more confusing than it is, its actually real simple. In a few words.. It’s a walk down memory lane.
So the other day I was chasing my girls in a park. One was going one way, the other was going another way. I was cursing leaving my home and making it more difficult for myself. And then – my Time Hop app came up and reminded me that on this day two years ago my Facebook status was “We FINALLY have a walker. Thank GOD!”. You see my daughter Mikah was a late walker and I was so excited and super relieved that she finally was walking (I was also 8 months pregnant!). Somehow chasing her round the park turned into a pleasure rather than a pain.
Or another time, Rafaella was sick and had kept me up holding her for most of the night and I was on my 3rd coffee before 10am when my Time Hop app came up with a photo “Introducing Rafaella Noa – we are in love already” and there was a picture of my teeny tiny little princess in my arms in the hospital bed minutes after being born.
I will warn you though.. sometimes it goes back too far. To times that seemed like a million years ago. Like chilling on the beach for hours with my husband as loved up honeymooners in Tel Aviv. And then sitting at home bathing the kids like I do every single night of the week just didn’t seem like it was that memorable at all. Until I took a photo of it – and wondered where I would be when I got that Time Hop reminder in a couple of years.
Love it! Will have to get it I think;)
My favourite app at the moment is ‘Little Moments’ by Fat Mum Slim – its photo editing app – beautiful filters and captions, absolutely love it!
Looking forward to seeing those beautiful pics x
